Mine is in reverse where when I try to pair the passkey on the bmw comes up first then to my phone but still will not pair is this the way it should happen

Hi there, for my car instead of it saying phone with the phone symbol, it comes up as TEL with two dashes as a symbol. How do I fix this?

Mine doesn't do this.. It just shows a menu like you would expect if a phone was connected but no phone is connected and the Bluetooth buttons are blanked out
